App support
Help with Just the tip! and MileHop, together in one place.
Developer information
These apps are developed by Tyler Sherman. For app support, email support@tylershermanator.com.
You can also visit Tyler's public Ko-fi profile for optional developer support.
Just the tip!
Enter a bill amount and move the slider. Bill, Tip, and Total update immediately. The default tip is 20%, and the slider runs from 0% to 50% in 1% steps.
How do I enter the bill?
Use digits and your device's decimal separator. Leave out currency symbols and thousands separators. The app uses your device's regional currency format and that currency's usual number of decimal places.
How do I close the keyboard?
Tap Done above the keyboard, or scroll the calculator to dismiss it.
What does Reset do?
Reset clears the bill and returns the tip to 20%. The app does not save a bill history.
How does rounding work?
The app rounds the tip to your currency's fractional precision, then adds that rounded amount to the bill. A $42.35 bill at 20% has an $8.47 tip and a $50.82 total in U.S. dollars.
Do I need an account or an in-app purchase?
No. Just the tip! is free, with no ads, accounts, or in-app purchases. Its optional Ko-fi link is external and does not unlock calculator features.
Does the calculator need internet?
No. The calculator works offline. The optional Buy Me a Coffee link opens Ko-fi in your browser and needs an internet connection. Supporting the developer does not unlock or change any calculator features.
Can I use larger text or VoiceOver?
Just the tip! supports Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, and light and dark mode. These preferences follow your device's system settings.
MileHop
MileHop helps you log travel days and mileage using saved locations and Apple route calculations. The app keeps its mileage records and preferences locally.
When does MileHop use my location?
It does not continuously follow you. It requests your current location when you intentionally use a location-based feature, such as I’m Here, saving your current position, or searching for nearby places. If a feature cannot get your position, check MileHop's location permission in iOS Settings.
Why did a route's mileage change?
Roads, entrances, and Apple's routing results can change. Cached mileage can be recalculated when needed. Use Clear Cached Routes in MileHop's Settings to remove cached results, then calculate the route again.
What happens when I export a report?
PDF and CSV files are generated from your app's records on the device, then offered through the iOS share sheet. Review the report before sharing and choose its destination carefully.
Is developer support required?
No. MileHop's supporter purchases are optional and use Apple's in-app purchase services. Previously purchased supporter items can be restored through MileHop's support options.
